This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse technicians, and engineers, you will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) overall strategy. The EGSE team is responsible for designing and developing the equipment used for launch operations and vehicle maintenance. As an Electrical Technical Designer, you will design, analyze, develop, and test ruggedized rack mounted ground equipment. You will also create installation drawings and specifications, support development and trade studies, interface definition, specification, and control documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own of the design, development, and maintenance of robust electronics test racks, harnesses, and assemblies with detailed tolerance stack-ups.
  • Spearhead the creation of models, parts, assemblies, and installation drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software following industry and company standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams-including Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, Systems Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, and Production personnel-to provide regular progress updates and ensure project alignment.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and continuous improvement initiatives, addressing design challenges and implementing effective solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A.S. degree in drafting and design or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with Visio, OrCAD (or similar schematic or electrical design tools), and Windchill.
  • Experience in harness design and integration using 2D CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace materials and treatments.
  • Proficient in drafting standards (ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41, etc.).
  • Familiar with harness standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA STD-8739.4, AS50881).
  • 3+ years of recent experience in harnessing and electrical design within aerospace or equivalent sectors.
  • Proven ability to own design projects
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree Electrical Engineering, or related experience.
  • 6+ years of proven design experience in the industry.
  • Proficiency in Creo.
  • Experience with ANSYS.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Experience with networking and RF systems

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $76,320.00-$106,848.00

Other site ranges may differ
