Job Description: The Supervisor, Application Development is responsible for the development and management of the Application Development team, working in alignment with the Manager, Application Development in the US. The Supervisor, Application Development is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the application development team, ensuring the successful execution of development projects in alignment with business objectives. This role includes leading and mentoring a team of developers, providing technical guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment to ensure high-quality code development, testing, and implementation. The supervisor will coordinate project tasks, set timelines, and ensure adherence to best practices, development standards, and corporate goals. The Supervisor must work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of applications into business processes. They are responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, resolving development roadblocks, and ensuring that solutions are scalable, efficient, and secure. The role also involves conducting performance evaluations, identifying skill gaps, and providing ongoing training and development opportunities for the team to enhance technical expertise and productivity. This role requires adherence to the software development life cycle (SDLC) in the creation of IT solutions, as well as the analysis of business and technical requirements. The Supervisor, Application Development role involves assisting in the development, evaluation, and selection of alternatives to meet customer needs. The role demands the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Coordination with key stakeholders throughout the design, development, testing, and deployment phases of an application is crucial. Additionally, the position supports Quality Assurance staff in testing processes and troubleshooting issues, while also preparing test data sets for development testing. The responsibilities of the Supervisor, Application Development role include creating and maintaining documentation of technical solutions and processes, managing code repositories using source code management tools, and evaluating peer developers' scripts for accuracy and best practices. Building strong partnerships with internal and external clients is vital, and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients is required. A strong commitment to customer service, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, is essential. The ability to multitask and prioritize work requirements is critical. The Supervisor of Application Development is also tasked with managing resources, balancing workloads, and providing clear communication to both the development team and senior management. They must stay informed about new technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for process improvements and system upgrades to keep the development team and applications competitive. The role includes ensuring compliance with organizational policies, including information security, and actively contributing to strategic planning and innovation within the application development landscape. Other duties include assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and maintaining a positive, results-driven work environment. Managing the workflow of projects and tickets, the Supervisor, Application Development ensures the smooth operation of the Application Development team, creating an environment that fosters collaboration and continuous learning. They offer daily support to various teams, liaise regularly with US-based leadership, and assist in ensuring all systems are operational. Additional responsibilities include overseeing information security, providing training, conducting security risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with security policies. They also provide regular project and time reports to management and promote information security awareness throughout the organization. Any issues related to information security are referred to the appropriate department managers, and they keep the organization informed about relevant technologies and regulatory matters.
