Overview
Under the supervision of the Collection Supervisor, is responsible for transporting to the mobile sites the necessary equipment and supplies needed for blood collections. Responsible for setting up and breaking down mobile site equipment before and after mobiles. Responsible for ensuring all necessary equipment/supplies are placed and/or stored on the vehicle before departure. Assists in phlebotomy area with discontinuing units, filling tubes, and helping with reactions. Performs various regulated functions related to the care of blood after collecting including storage and transportation. Perform donor suitability, histories and blood collection procedures. Ensures the safety of the donor and safety, purity and potency of the blood collected. Performs various regulated functions related to the care of the blood after collections, including storage and transportation. Promotes positive image of CBC to the Community.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- They will set up and break down mobile site equipment before and after mobiles, assist in phlebotomy area with discontinuing units, filling tubes and helping with reactions.
- They will also perform additional functions related to care of blood after collection including storage and transportation.
- Must be able to confidently communicate and interpret intermediate information in English to all members of the public and CBC staff.
- Must maintain current CDL (MO or KS) and/or DOT certification, in order to operate the vessel (bus).
- Must have a clean driving record. All tickets, suspensions must be reported to your supervisor.
Other Functions:
- Answers donor questions regarding donor criteria and blood donations.
- Performs data entry when donors present to donate (as applicable).
- Completes paperwork relating to daily operations.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Stays current with all changes by attending all scheduled in-services.
- Restocks supplies as needed.
- Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned relevant to the position.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record. All tickets, suspension must be reported to supervisor.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and well-supplied truck.
- Assists in phlebotomy area during mobiles, obtaining tubes, and removing needles.
- Assists phlebotomy staff with donor reactions.
- Performs registration duties as assigned.
- Assists mobile packing as needed inluding mobile packing and garage clean-up.
- Stays current with all changes by attending all scheduled in-servieds.
- Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned relevant to the position.
- Maintains professional demeanor and attitude.

Qualifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent - Must provide a copy of the transcript.
- Medical Assistant degree preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid MO or KS CDL License with excellent driving history.
- WORK HOURS AND DAYS VARY SO MUST BE VERY FLEXIBLE.
Skills:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good writing skills to successfully document as needed.
- Good verbal skills to successfully communicate with donors, chairpersons, community, and co-workers.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Computer skills.
- Good driving skills and record.
- Maintains professional demeanor and attitude.
- Truck driving experience a plus.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Proficient in all duties related to Donor Room Assistant.
- Knowledge of Missouri and Kansas driving laws.
Experience Preferred: Prefer an individual with at least 6 months experience in:
- A health-related field, and
- Phlebotomy
