We are seeking a highly skilled Process Health and Safety Engineer (Chemicals) to join our team in Rayne, LA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the process safety program for the site, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting a culture of safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a comprehensive process safety management program for the site
  • Actively execute the process safety program for the site with assistance from management and other departments
  • Implement OSHA regulations and industry standards, particularly in the state of Louisiana
  • Ensure compliance with Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) regulations and guidelines
  • Prepare and maintain regulatory required plans and procedures, including but not limited to:
  • PSM (Process Safety Management) + RMP (Risk Management Plan)
  • RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act)
  • SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure)
  • SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan)
  • HAZCOM (Hazard Communication)
  • Emergency Response NIMS (National Incident Management System)
  • State of LA and federal regulatory agency reporting
  • Prepare and present regular updates to facility leadership on key HSE/PSM performance indicators
  • Facilitate or lead incident investigations and develop corrective and preventative actions
  • Perform self-assessments and audits to assure conformance with Baker Hughes HSE management system
  • Plan and implement programs to train managers and employees in process safety, work site safety practices, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, health and safety environmental science, environmental science, or other relevant field
  • 5+ years of process safety experience in manufacturing/industrial environment roles
  • Working knowledge of process safety management and Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality regulations(preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, team-building, and influencing skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to travel to sites as needed
  • Professional designation as a CSP, CIH, PE, CHMM, or CES (desired)
  • Knowledge of Incident Command System and Emergency Response (desired)
  • Expertise in waste management to include waste characterization, waste profiling, and waste minimization (desired)
