POSITION SUMMARY

The Leave Administrator Specialist Is based out of the Cherry Hill, NJ office. This individual is responsible for supporting the HR Team to maximize human resources functions through effective record keeping and tracking of worker compensation, FMLA, ADA, and state leave requirements. This role will support all LPC locations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of the job)

Responsibilities include:

  • Be the point of contact for all union and non-union employees, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, military leave, personal leave, etc.
  • Effectively manage the types of leave employees are eligible (varies state by state)
  • Explain to employees how leaves work and what they are responsible for completing
  • Initiate the status change in the HRIS via a workflow process
  • Communicate with employees while they are out on leave regarding their expected return to work date and responsibilities while on leave
  • Follow-up with employees who are not submitting paperwork or participating in the interactive process under ADA
  • Partner with legal team when making difficult decisions regarding next steps in the leave process as needed
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of all government regulations and laws and advises employees on company policy, guidelines, and documentation requirements.
  • Coordinates with managers and the safety leads to develop modified work scheduling or return to work accommodations connected to a leave of absence.
  • Monitor all workers compensation claims and communicate to plant and legal as needed
  • Submit bi-weekly reports to HR and plant leadership regarding current leaves and possible return to work dates
  • Manage all workers' compensation and disability cases to assure proper case management and effective financial cost analysis and reporting
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with outside representatives/vendors to enhance role as principal contact
  • Maintain a professional awareness of current and changing trends, including governmental regulations, in the field of employee benefits but in particular as they relate to above mentioned subject matter areas
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of employment regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws, bringing process and service best practice into the business
  • Support HR team with projects related to strategic initiatives and objectives
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time to our work locations to build strong relationships with HR and plant leadership.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related curriculum; minimum 2 years Human Resources experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leave specialist or similar position in a manufacturing
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations governing leaves of absence, including FMLA and ADA
  • Possess functional human resources skills and experiences, including recruitment and working knowledge of software applications (MS Office, Human Resources Information Systems, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of HR laws and policies, including employment law, disability and benefits programs.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to multi-task. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have excellent time management skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a unionized environment
  • Experience in report writing
  • PHR Certification or completion of PHR preparatory course
