Job Description Summary

Enterprise co-founded Power Forward Communities (PFC), a landmark coalition with some of the country's most trusted community development, climate, and housing organizations.

It is purpose-built to decarbonize America's homes and drive a market transformation that cuts costs, benefits renters and homeowners, and focuses on low-income communities nationwide.

The EPA has awarded the coalition a $2 billion National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF) grant. Together with our coalition partners - Rewiring America, Habitat for Humanity International, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and United Way Worldwide - Enterprise will use this award to deploy a powerful combination of financing, market building, and community engagement to create healthier, safer, and more affordable homes.

The National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF), part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), represents one of the most profound public investments in climate resilience in our nation's history. With this award, Enterprise has been entrusted to help turn the nation's most critical climate legislation into transformational housing legislation by ensuring hundreds of thousands of affordable homes are built or preserved.

As the sixth-largest nonprofit developer-owner-operator in the United States and the largest provider of affordable homes in the Mid-Atlantic, Enterprise Community Development ("Community Development" or "ECD") aims to be an employer of choice that attracts people drawn to the organization's high-impact mission and the opportunity to create sustainable and transformative community development models. The division focuses on four primary areas: new development and preservation, asset management, property management, and resident services. To meet its mission, Community Development and its property management subsidiary, Enterprise Residential, employ more than 500 employees (400+ in property management) who work in our Baltimore, Maryland, Silver Spring, Maryland or Richmond, Virginia offices or on-site at our properties.

Enterprise Community Development and Enterprise Residential comprise the Community Development division of Enterprise Community Partners ("Enterprise") - a national affordable housing nonprofit that, in addition to its Community Development division, invests capital in affordable rental homes through its Capital division and manages programs, policy, and an advisory group through its Solutions division. Collectively as "Enterprise," the breadth and depth of these end-to-end capabilities is unequaled in the affordable housing industry.

In recent years, ECD has developed a successful and growing solar energy practice focused on a number of assets in its existing portfolio. Given the scale of incentives and funding made available through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) including the $27 billion Greenhous Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), a portion of which was awarded to a consortium including an affiliate of Enterprise, ECD seeks to accelerate and scale up its clean energy work. ECD strives to green, electrify, and decarbonize the rest of its Mid-Atlantic portfolio including solar development at sixty plus properties, EV charging stations at even more, incorporation of battery resilience hubs at a number of properties, and GGRF-eligible building system retrofits across the portfolio where feasible. ECD is also embracing a clean energy lens for its immediate development pipeline.

The Senior Director, Clean Energy will play a critical role in leading ECD's growing clean energy business line and maximizing integration of clean energy and resiliency goals in ECD's existing operating housing portfolio as well as its new development pipeline.
