Hapeville, GA - Retail shop How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The Assistant Branch Manager provides day to day support to the Branch Manager with the critical issues of branch operation and profitability, including sales, sales growth, budgeting, gross margins, operating expenses, safety, customer service, inventory, equipment, building and vehicles, community relations, accounts receivable and resolution of personnel issues.
  • Directly supervises two or more employees in the day-to-day operations of the retail store including compliance, retail sales, warehousing and distribution. Supports both the scheduling and performance management efforts for personnel.

  • Participates in the execution of marketing plans to support the penetration of key market segments in collaboration with our Sales and Operations teams and outside vendors. Assists with sales promotional activities, merchandising and displays.

  • Collaborates with outside sales to ensure order accuracy and properly scheduled customer deliveries.

  • Assists with managing the branch inventory, daily hard goods inventory cycle counts and maintaining showroom and warehouse appearance.

  • Assists with managing all hard goods receiving and all dynamic deployment (hard goods inter-branch orders) for completion timely and daily. Participates in the annual/bi-annual physical hard goods inventory audits.

  • Helps monitor SAP reports daily such as open order/delivery reports, billing and delivery block reports and open Purchase Order (PO) reports. Responsible for Daily Cash Reconciliation (DCR). Ensures daily completion and that all errors are addressed and bank deposits are initiated.

  • Oversees employee training in procedural areas such as following all Airgas Operating Standards and safety regulations.

  • Works in partnership with corporate accounts receivable to manage branch credits and collections.

  • Solicits sales from walk-in and telephone call-in customers assisting customers with identification of product needs and locating merchandise.

  • Enters sales & quote data into the computer and researches information for customers using the computer system.

  • Receives payment for merchandise or services sold and enters sale into the computer. Responsible for payments received and adhering to all administrative and accounting related procedures.

  • Provides warehouse support for shipping & receiving, inventory stocking, cleaning, labeling, or other tasks.

  • Restocks store merchandise as needed. Arranges stock on shelves or racks in the sales area and keeps merchandise in order. Marks or tickets merchandise.

  • Follow all safety procedures. Uses established safety procedures for cylinder handling during exchanges and storage of cylinders.

  • Maintains showroom cleanliness by procedures set forth by management.

  • Additionally, this position will be responsible for occasionally safely and efficiently delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company provided truck when needed. This position loads, unloads, delivers, and returns compressed gas cylinders while frequently interacting with Airgas customers.

  • Establishes and maintains good customer relations. Listens to and helps resolve service inquiries and complaints.

  • Maintains load manifests and all required vehicle documents ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries. Ensures that vehicle manifests, labeling and load are in compliance with regulatory guidelines such as those pertaining to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR).

  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections documenting deficiencies & ensures all safety items are in good working order.

  • Ensures all safety rules are strictly observed & any accidents or injuries are promptly reported to management.

  • Operates a pallet jack, forklift & other warehouse equipment.

  • Work in a warehouse or on a dock as needed.

  • High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree preferred.

Required Length & Type of Experience:
  • Must be 21 years old

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.

  • Valid USDOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (card).

  • Hazmat Endorsement (H or X Endorsement).

  • Ability to operate a vehicle with an air brake system (no air brake restrictions on CDL).

  • Minimum of three (2) years of experience in an industrial retail, inside sales, customer service and/or inventory control related position.

  • One (1) year of prior supervisory and/or demonstrated leadership experience.

  • SAP experience preferred.
