What You Will Do:

The national vertical transportation practice of Gannett Fleming TranSystems continues to grow. A career opportunity awaits a hands-on Vertical Transportation Project Manager who possess Elevator/Escalator/Moving Walk project experience to join our Los Angeles office. The Vertical Transportation Project Manager will provide vertical transportation consulting services including design, construction administration, inspections, and assessments and enhance the business development efforts in the area.

Gannett Fleming TranSystems focuses on providing the highest quality of vertical transportation consulting services from design and engineering for new installations and modernizations, to maintenance oversight and contract enforcement of the life of the vertical transportation equipment for our clients. Gannett Fleming TranSystems provides a wide range of consulting services from condition assessments to complex design projects. Our experience is in new design, modernization, and maintenance oversight in markets such as Transit, Aviation, Federal/State and Local Governments, Industrial, and Commercial.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing projects within assigned area from pursuit and development to closeout.
  • Manage a project so that it is completed in a timely manner on schedule, within budget, and meets all technical and financial standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Assist client managers and business development personnel in developing leads, pursuing opportunities, and cultivating relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Effectively communicate project requirements, client needs, and technical aspects to multiple parties including owners, building managers, contractors, architects, engineers, as well as State and Local authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Work with inspectors, designers, and specialists to perform the project requirements in an efficient manner.
  • Review project deliverables including design documents, specifications, assessment, inspection, and audit reports.
  • Develop contract language and negotiate the scope of work to meet the client's needs and provide high quality services.
  • Travel within the Los Angeles area to client's offices and sites to conduct meetings, provide equipment evaluations, and construction progress site visits. Occasional out of area travel to meet client needs may be required.
  • Candidate must have familiarity with the Los Angeles area market and codes to meet the needs of our existing clients.
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • QEI certification or ability to obtain QEI within first 12 months of employment.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects involving Elevators/Escalators/Moving Walks. Elevator Industry experience is a plus.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a client manager/representative.
  • Knowledge of the principals of project management and ability to execute projects within schedule and budget.
  • Ability to accurately interpret construction contractual documents and contract modifications to determine cost of such change.
  • Ability to read and review architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication including presentation skills and be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people with diverse Must be able to develop and maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, clients, and others in contact with the job.
  • Experienced with MS Office.
