Job Purpose

1) The Parts Pricing Department examines and sets market pricing for over 1-million-part numbers (parts & accessories), which determines the sales and profit of the PS&T division. The Parts Pricing and Policies Manager ensures the Pricing Department's associates analyze and review all cost changes and assigned product groups by exploring market data to ensure divisional profit targets are achieved. The Manager ensures weekly department work cues and assignments are completed/approved on time in accordance with departmental/divisional policies to coordinate with all publication schedules. Honda Motor Company is the primary source of part numbers to the parts Catalogue and Masterfile. The PNA Department's primary role is to edit and publish the Parts Catalogue and Masterfile information for local and export customer consumption.

2) The parts catalogue and part Master publishing process starts with parts drawings from Japan. Service replacement part number changes and new model additions are sent to AHM. The coordinators align the parts database and graphics with the AHM marketing specifications for all parts and accessories. The parts catalogue is the system used for all dealer parts and accessory orders. This position supervises the supervisor and coordinators responsible for accuracy of the catalogue applications and published on time to facilitate $3B in parts and accessory sales for all product lines in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.

3) The Parts Masterfile lists all the characteristics of a part number and initial set-up, and changes requires critical accuracy. Regional edits such as new model parts set-up, supersessions, control codes, are administered by this job. This position supervises the Masterfile coordinators and maintains the accuracy, consistency, quality, accountability, and reporting of part number changes, including addition of new model part numbers, to the Parts Division Masterfile (approx. 1.2-million-part numbers) for all product lines within American Honda.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor pricing procedure and approval levels and overall Executive approval of all pricing actions. Strengthen control and formalize operating procedures/standards so that it compiles with general corporate guidelines and so it meets our high standards of excellence.
  • Strategically use pricing as a mechanism to aid in achieving and managing our profitability by creating pricing action plans that are comprehensive in approach: including target buyers profile/demographics, competitor analysis, numeric goal of new model placement and other quantifiable and qualitative analysis. Proactive and vigilant monitoring of pricing to increase profit by establishing target product groups for analysis and actions for profit optimization.
  • Establish and maintain Carlisle Survey #1 Catalogue ranking for Honda and Acura in the industry by ensuring catalogue timeliness, accuracy and efficiency - 100% on time and 100% accuracy.
  • Establish Mass-price increase targets as directed by executive management, develop a plan to meet the targets and implement by deadline. Develop countermeasures and implemented during pricing analysis to minimize exposure to incorrect price setting due to mis-keyed FOB's or mis-classified pricing functions.
  • Ensure Parts Masterfile part number set-ups including accuracy and timeliness of Service Parts Specification Control including model code, product division, and function code for over 250-part numbers per day.
  • Ensure compliance with all PS&T Divisional Policies/Terms and Conditions.
  • Project management of major project initiatives (i.e. GM Catalogue, GM Function Code set up, upgrade of parts catalogue editing system, Moto-Compacto and Japan Collaboration project).
  • Directly supervise and develop 2 Asst. Managers, indirectly 14 other associates.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Economics or Engineering: MBA preferred
  • 8-10 years of automotive or mechanical parts experience demonstrating progressive responsibility
  • 10-12 years as business or pricing analyst experience
  • 5-7 years field experience
  • 5-7 years supervisory experience
  • Strong user skills necessary in Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project Planning
  • Strong skills necessary in data query tools such as Access and Business Objects
  • Strong internet research ability is essential
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong financial skills
