Municipal Water / Wastewater Engineer

Gannett Fleming is looking for a dynamic Municipal Water/Wastewater Engineer offering strong technical expertise to join our Water/Wastewater practice in our Miami, Florida Office.

As a Municipal Water/Wastewater Engineer you will use your technical and management abilities to plan, design and construct water/wastewater infrastructure in a dynamic team setting as well as to mentor junior staff.

In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

• Participating on project teams in the planning, design and construction administration of municipal and industrial water and wastewater infrastructure facilities and projects.
• Client interaction, presentations, and project coordination.
• Coordinating work activities with various technical staff and consultants including developing and implementing study and design standards, leading progress meetings, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, tracking project schedules, and budgets.
• Water and Wastewater Treatment Facility Design, including basis of design reports, plans, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, condition assessments, technical evaluations, etc.
• Coordinating work activities and communicating with various municipalities and governmental regulating agencies.
• Overseeing construction contract management and observation services.
• Preparation of technical reports and permit applications.
• Supervise and mentor junior-level engineers.

• BS in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering (MS is preferred)
• Professional Engineer License is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience required in water/wastewater discipline, particularly as a water/wastewater engineer designing (study, plans and specifications) water and/or wastewater infrastructure (i.e. treatment processes and collection/distribution projects).
• Progressive experience in the evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water storage and distribution facilities, and wastewater collection systems.
• Experience with small and large diameter pipes, pipeline and gravity sewers is a plus.
• Experience leading and/or supporting engineering design projects with City of Hollywood, Miami Dade Water and Sewer, Broward County Water and Wastewater and/or South Florida Water Management District highly preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or BIM is preferred.
• Leader and team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation.
