Shelden Clinical Simulation Centers

Job Description

Come join a team that is training the next doctors, nurses and veterinarians here in Missouri and beyond. Our Simulation Technician coordinates simulation support functions for the Russell D. and Mary B. Shelden Clinical Simulation Centers to ensure goals and objectives specified for the educational activities of the Centers and accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations or other specifications. This position's main function is to assist with the implementation and operation of all modalities of simulation activities, which is a very vital role in the success of simulation events.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

-Set up and operate the computer software used to run simulation hardware, deliver audio cues, record simulation and collect data. Be able to troubleshoot related problems in a calm and efficient manner.
-Proactive in looking at Sim Center calendars in advance and anticipating room setup, equipment and supply needs.
-Set up, operate, clean and store simulation equipment (simulators, simulator accessories, task trainers, medical equipment) for simulation experiences at all associated simulation sites.
-Assist with testing equipment and scenarios for Mobile Simulation client events.
-Assist in transporting simulation equipment to our outreach clients.
-Participate in technical training as necessary.
-Troubleshoot simulation devices and test new educational technology developments as needed.
-Assist with equipment installations throughout all associated simulation sites as needed.
-Conduct group tours of the centers and speak knowledgeably about the benefits of medical simulation.
-Provide coverage for and assist other simulation center team members to meet educational activity requirements as needed.
-Assist with supporting the Simulated Participant program (tech, running events, quality control).
-Assist with supporting the Gynecological Teaching Assistant (GTA) program, and Male Urological Teaching Assistant (MUTA) program with setup of rooms and supplies.
-Assist with other special projects or initiatives as needed.
-Monitor departmental goals and objectives as outlined in the strategic plans of the UM School of Medicine Dean's Office and ensure timely completion.
-Assist with the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures that are consistent with University, School of Medicine and UM Health Care policies and procedures.
-Implement quality assurance and improvement programs for the department.

Shift Type: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $18.50-$26.34/hour
Grade: GGS-008
