The primary duties of this position include field observation for municipal, projects including documentation of construction contractors' activities for conformance with contract requirements. Applicant must be willing to travel and work in an outdoor environment.
Primary Functions
- Prepare daily reports detailing the status of the work, including confirmation of work completed, available resources and jobsite conditions.
- Document that construction adheres to design requirements.
- Assist with Requests for Information.
- Verify and document proper execution of project designs.
- Identify and assist with resolution of construction issues and/or contractor non-compliance.
- Communicate with residents, business owners, and municipal client representatives regarding construction progress, questions and issues resolution.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and sit as needed on project sites. Ability to drive a motor vehicle to reach work sites and maneuver project sites with uneven terrain. Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate. Required Education:
High School Diploma
Desired Degree:
Associate's degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or Concrete.
Desired Skills/Experience
- Experience with or knowledge of municipal construction inspection and documentation is required. Experience with or knowledge of Department of Transportation construction inspection is a plus.
- Experience with basic survey or knowledge/understanding of introductory survey principals included the use and understanding of construction stakes and cut sheets is preferred.
- Experience specifically with water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer is preferred. Additionally, experience with HMA and concrete pavements is a plus.
- Experience using Fieldbook is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record and be available for occasional travel, long hours, and weekends.
- Ability to communicate effectively, interact with the public and with clients/owners, follow direction, and work independently.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel is a plus.
