Phlebotomist

Inpatient Phlebotomist The Inpatient phlebotomist draws patients on hospital inpatient nursing units, One-Day Surgery Dept., Pre-Admission Testing and Short-Stay unit. When the hospital is experiencing a patient surge, a phlebotomist(s) may also be assigned to the Emergency Room. The Inpatient phlebotomist draws blood on admitted patients. There are three shifts: 5a-1p, 1p-9p and 9-7am. The 5a-1p inpatient phlebotomist is expected to draw 25-30 patients on early morning rounds. This includes routine, STAT and ALERT draws. Inpatient is a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with high patient volume. The ability to work well within a team of phlebotomists is required. Communicating often and effectively with your team is essential. 1 year experience; ASCP-certified phlebotomy technician is preferred. Outpatient Phlebotomist The Outpatient phlebotomist draws walk-in patients at the main hospital campus. Appointments are not required and volume/traffic flow changes hourly. Outpatient phlebotomists are responsible for interpreting prescriptions, or seeking assistance with complex orders, and then ordering the labs in the computer. Patient flow is monitored very closely to assure the majority of outpatients do not wait longer than 15 minutes for service. High levels of customer service are expected and essential to good patient relations. Outpatient is a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with high patient volume and high customer service standards. The ability to work well within a team of phlebotomists is required. Communicating often and effectively with your team is essential. 1 year experience; ASCP-certified phlebotomy technician is preferred. Outreach Phlebotomist The Outreach phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens on all age groups and preparing specimens for transport to testing lab (s). This is a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with high patient volume. The ability to work independently and efficiently is essential. Self-motivated with excellent customer service skills are a must. An eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy in interpreting physician orders is crucial. Other duties include answering the phone and responding to patient/MD requests for lab results, fasting requirements and hours of operation. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel around the service area - Monmouth and Ocean counties. Must be comfortable working alone. Must be willing to drive in bad weather - Outreach operations do not stop during inclement weather Responsibilities Inpatient Phlebotomist

Nursing Homes Travel to nursing home accounts in Monmouth and Ocean counties using own vehicle or hospital vehicle.
