Admissions Advisor

This position is an on-campus, full-time, 12-month appointment covered by the Professional Support Staff (PSS) Union with an annual salary of $46,937.06.

The Admissions Advisor is responsible for promoting Parkland College to external constituents and assisting prospective students through the enrollment process. The Admissions Advisor works on a schedule established by the Associate Director of Admissions-Recruiting; overtime or an altered work schedule may sometimes be required. The position involves access to and frequent handling of confidential information and records. The advisor must be able to work effectively with students and parents and represent Parkland College at public events.

Essential Job
Functions
:

  • Meet with prospective students and families on and off campus to present information regarding Parkland programs and services.
  • Assist with recruitment through the development of diverse recruitment plans and activities and the use of social media and/or virtual tools.
  • Maintain knowledge of inquiries, mailings, and applications through Slate (CRM) and develop strategies for utilizing the CRM for recruiting and retention purposes.
  • Represent Parkland College at District 505 high schools, middle schools, and public events.
  • Facilitate the enrollment process for new, current, and returning students.
  • Conduct personalized follow-up with prospective and applied students.
  • Provide initial advising for student populations including health professions and early college students.
  • Conduct frequent communications with high school counselors about student needs.
  • Work with various markets, including Early College students, high school graduates, and adult students.
  • Provides services and continuous support to prospective Early College students to ensure seamless enrollment, assessment, and registration.
  • Coordinate large recruiting or informational events within the college including conducting campus tours when needed.
  • Assist with various registrations duties, including conducting late registration for students.
  • Explain residency requirements with current and prospective students.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum
Requirements
:

  • Bachelor's degree OR three years of equivalent work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Verbal and mathematical abilities sufficient to produce correspondence, communicate effectively, and perform other duties, including excellent use of English grammar.
  • Valid driver's license, insurability to drive for the College, and be available to travel.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of people, including individuals with English as a second language.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to easily navigate the internet and use of social media.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
  • In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
