Responsibilities

The Senior Trainer Consultant is responsible for supporting innovation, research and development for Hazelden Publishing's Prevention Solutions department. This position is responsible for the development of innovative, research-based training and products aimed at national markets across the education and mental health spectrum, as well as maintenance and integration of existing evidence-based curriculum and trainings into the national strategy.

In addition to contributing to programming innovation, this position is responsible for collaborating with internal departments such as editorial, sales, marketing and development. This position will lead high-level meetings with partner groups such as school districts, partner programs, substance misuse and mental health organizations to provide a consultative approach to understanding Prevention Solutions broad new offerings focusing on the whole child. This position will primarily focus on consultation and adult-facing training, with a small amount of student-facing education. This position will also participate in grant research and writing to fund development and future growth.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in in education, health, human services, counseling or related field
  • 7 years of experience in the education, substance use, mental health or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience as a consultant, trainer or curriculum developer with extensive knowledge of prevention, recovery, evidence-based treatment of addiction and mental illness.
  • 3 years of experience as an effective training facilitator to small and large audiences with extensive knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Demonstration of critical thinking

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in education, psychology, mental health or a related field
  • State-specific Prevention Specialist or another licensure in a related field
  • History of advocacy work related to treatment of substance use and mental health disorders and issues related to social determinants of health.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop sustainable, culturally appropriate programming for traditionally underserved populations.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy, products and services offered by Hazelden and experience implementing Hazelden Publishing's evidence-based curricula.
  • Experience in successful application for federal, state, and private funding for programming across settings.
  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary setting.
