As a Flat Laser Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible forday-to-day staging, equipment startup and inspections, laser operations and safe machine shutdown.

This position is a weekend shift. The hours for this position are Friday to Sunday 6:00am to 6:30pm.

This position will be trained on 1st shift Monday through Friday.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Startup Shutdown of laser equipment
  • Set-up of correct cutting parameters and laser operation
  • Maintain equipment to ensure proper working conditions
  • Measure and verify that the parts produced meet print specs
  • Safely operate a forklift to handle materials
  • Document basic material, production and quality control issues
  • Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

  • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • 1- 3 years experience laser operator or similar experience preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints preferred
  • Keen attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and independently
  • * Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with a strong, positive attitude
  • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
  • Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
