As a Service Center Operations Supervisor at Ryerson, you will be responsible foroverseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse functions as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to, formulating strategy, improving performance, and securing compliance.

This position is 2nd shift. The hours for this position are Monday to Friday from 2:30 pm to 1:00 am.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment (complying with EPA/OSHA regulations)

* Provide training and mentorship to employees

* Management of production uptime for maximum equipment utilization while maximize raw material usage to minimize scrap

* Ensure finished goods inventory is managed and accurate

* Effectively communicate with others to provide solutions and promote teamwork amongst business units (i.e. sales, purchasing, human resources, logistics, credit, corporate operations, etc.)

* Utilize LEAN operations principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency

* Take responsibility for operations when the Operations Manager is out of office

* All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical Degree preferred or demonstrated equivalent work experience in manufacturing
  • 3- 5+ year's progressively responsible experience as an operations leader, with specific experience in lean manufacturing, asset utilization, data analysis, and team development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and thrive within ambiguity - in an extremely fast paced environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills; the ability to establish trust and remain flexible in style and approach
