Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Associate Vice Chancellor for Data Strategy for VC Finance. This role is critical in developing and managing the data standards, tools, processes and governance that support the campus operational, administrative and academic initiatives.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides leadership, innovation, and strategic oversight for Rutgers - New Brunswick's data analytics functions.
  • Leads the creation and analysis of data sets.
  • Identifies trends, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Provides actionable insights to inform decision-making across the campus.
  • Provides advice, performs critical analysis, and assists the Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, CBO in shaping the Chancellor's office long term goals for the campus.
  • Works closely with the Senior Vice Chancellor, CBO and the Chancellor of Rutgers - New Brunswick to operationalize these goals through the analysis of data.
  • Works closely with the Vice President for Institutional Research and the Vice President for Enterprise Applications in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) for Rutgers University to ensure university and campus information is shared and disseminated.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in business, a quantitative field or equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Managerial experience.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Excel).
  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and data modeling techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and proficiency in Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
  • Ability to think strategically and convey information to campus executives using data-driven insights.
  • Expertise in analyzing large and complex datasets, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights.
  • Understanding of data governance models, including data systems, quality, privacy, and security.
  • Expertise in analyzing large and complex datasets, identifying trends, providing insights, and communicating those insights to both technical and non-technical leaders.

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Microsoft Office Products.
  • Software packages including SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, Python.
  • Understanding and use of modules for machine and deep learning convolutional neural networks in Python and R.
  • Tableau and Power BI visualization tools.
