Your Role With Us:The Manager of Patient Billing is responsible for the following functions: Oversees the daily operations of all Patient Billing related activities within the Patient Financial Services (PFS) department within Salem Hospital Hospitals and Clinics: leads PFS members with a focus on teamwork, communication, adaptability, and quality service delivery; supervises direct reports, ensuring that service expectations are consistently met; maintains organizational expectations including timely reviews, lean requirements, etc. Ensures compliance with performance standards, payer contracts, federal and state regulatory requirements, and constantly seeks to improve the patient financial journey at Salem Health: Understands employees' processes and works with Supervisors to standardize and implement best practices; assist other leaders and staff with optimizing workflow and trouble-shooting accounts or other issues; maintains up-to-date knowledge on changes to the system application environment; develops and maintains current Sustain and Operate dashboards and periodically reviews appropriateness of measures. Serve as an internal consultant/trainer for revenue generating departments regarding the intricacies of patient billing and the patient financial journey. Work closely with Information Services team to ensure optimization and integrity of the system from the Patient Billing perspective Partners with the Revenue Cycle Director & PFS Management team on the development of new policies &standard work as needs are identified: ensures policies are accurate and up-to-date; ensures standard work binder and network files and documents are accurate and up-to-date; partner with the Revenue Cycle team to ensure compliance with government regulations, third party payer needs, and industry standards.Works collaboratively with departmental leadership, business partners, payers and other stakeholders when negative trends or opportunities are identified: conducts research into issues and trains staff to conduct their own research to augment problem solving; raises trends to the attention of appropriate parties to systematically reduce waste and improve throughput; supports and encourages staff to problem solve issues with staff from other teams; creates action plans to reduce future issues. Participates in audit program as appropriate and necessary, is responsible for regulatory compliance in areas of responsibility including cash posting, self pay, etc. Oversees PFS vendor relationships under their domain, as appropriate, including the following: audit and payment of invoices; audit of performance metrics; reconciliation of inventory; point of contact for vendor questions or concerns. Experience:Minimum of five (5) years of revenue cycle experience required. Supervisory or managerial experience required, minimum of three (3) years preferred.Demonstrated leadership qualities required. Experience in Customer Service preferred.Resolute Billing Administration certification preferred. Special knowledge, skills, & abilities: Strong Communication and customer service skills required.Working knowledge of Billing & Coding Rules and Regulations required, ie CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9, ICD-10, APC, and DRG.Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to multitask required. Working knowledge of reimbursement required. Hospital Finance or Revenue Cycle experience required. Solid knowledge of assigned tools, applications, and technologies necessary for management of work and resources within Salem Health. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.Experience with IT Service Management tools preferred. Knowledge of the functionality and use of general health care information systems technology, including Epic. Solid knowledge of software development/implementation methodology.Strong skills in creating and tracking project plans.
