Job Purpose

Quality Engineer with the core role and responsibility to assure quality products to our final customer. Minimize internal quality issues using root cause analysis, implementing temporary & permanent countermeasures to ensure minimal line impact & optimal product quality. Responsible for total Quality Maturation of the complete powertrain unit and prevent outflow of any problems to our customers.

Manage all areas of Assembly - New Model in relation to Design, Test, Initial Quality Survey, Warranty, Rejects Per Unit, Themes, 1 Quality Event, Certification, Dynamic and Static torque testing verification and assurance, Critical Control Point development, implementation and verification.

Support & provide direction for respective team members. Lead overall operational management of production and mentor associates for growth & opportunities to support department objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Improvement of quality on all manufacturing lines to reduce scrap and eliminate outflow of nonconforming parts
  • Support investigations for complex quality problems to determine responsibility, root cause and countermeasure.
  • Create / maintain analysis strategy for quality problems using Quality team members.
  • Analyse collected data to make accurate conclusions
  • Summarize problem investigations accurately and clearly.
  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly Quality Reporting of Q/D KPI's (Repairs/ GDP / Q Downtime/ Scrap)
  • Lead Audit through QMS Rep / WAR prep / QAV's (Audit database)
  • Department Lead Auditor - New model, Self & External audits ( ISO9001 )
  • Final department PQCT Approver
  • Lead Internal / External parts containment strategies
  • New Model SAP Approval and Reviews
  • Confirm all design changes and all design concerns have countermeasures, report readiness.
  • Establish/manage A00 project quality targets, summarize Q activity
  • Management of Quality outflow from reporting through countermeasure implementation.
  • Ensure all Trouble Reports, CAR's and CSIs are communicated to department management with a completed detailed report
  • Present pertinent Quality information monthly to Plant management
  • Lead new model project Q-Zone activity.
  • Kronos Time Verification Coordinator for Assembly Quality Group.
  • Lead investigation into quality related problems within department
  • Support department involvement in complex plant-wide quality issues with unclear cause
  • Lead department quality business plan development and execution
  • Promote and teach a Quality mindset throughout the Assembly Department

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of relevant Engine / Quality experience. 4+ years of leadership experience
  • Ability to lead meetings and coordinate activity
  • Ability to read blueprints/technical drawings
  • Ability to solve complex quality problems related to dept mfg processes
  • Ability to prioritize quality related activity

Workstyle

  • 50-70% office area / 30-50% manufacturing area (at the spot)
  • OT of 5-10 hours per week
  • <5% travel (excluding other Ohio facilities)
