Position Description

Under minimal supervision from the Department Supervisor plans and organizes the daily activities and workflow for up to 15 associates engaged in the production of precision components and sub-assemblies. Position is responsible for learning all of the manufacturing processes in the department and coordinating and providing on the job training for associates within the work group. Incumbent will also assist the Department Supervisor with arranging cross training between other groups and departments.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews production and delivery commitments with expeditor and team.
  • Plans and prioritizes daily/weekly activities to accomplish production requirements.
  • Informs team members regarding any special conditions or requirements necessary to meet production commitments i.e. overtime or change to regular work schedule.
  • Sets up work stations, assigns work to individual employees, monitors workflow and progression of units to subsequent workstations.
  • Monitors daily work activities for equipment/operational problems, quality issues, hazards, material shortages or resources availability that may impact production.
  • Interprets blueprints, follows operations sheets and insures that employees are using proper production methods.
  • Consults with supervisor and/or engineering concerning issues impacting production
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education & Experience

  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 years experience OR an Associate's Degree (technical discipline preferred) and 2 years' experience.
  • Previous experience working a as a team/group lead in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to pass annual eye exam which requires 20/20 vision with corrective lenses.
  • Must be adept at using precision mechanical gauges and a wide variety of precision electrical test equipment.
  • Must be capable of reading blueprints and interpreting operations sheets and other types of complex instruction.

This position is located 100% onsite at our Black Mountain NC facility. Relocation assistance is not available.
