Overview |
The Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (
NJAES) is the research and outreach arm of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The position will be based at the Philip E. Marucci Center for Blueberry and Cranberry Research and Extension (Marucci) is a substation of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (
NJAES) located in Chatsworth, NJ (Burlington County). The mission of the center is to develop tools and techniques to enhance the efficiency and quality of blueberry and cranberry production. The Marucci Center is a nationally recognized and highly productive research and extension facility with 4 resident Rutgers faculty, 6 lab technicians, 3 farm staff and 20 summer interns, 8 graduate students, in addition to 3
USDA-
ARS research scientists and 4 technicians co-located in the building. The facilities include a main administrative building with offices and labs, 5 greenhouses and 60 acres of blueberry and cranberry research plots. The center is active in submitting proposals for external funding for state and federal funding averaging 12 submissions per year. The research funding at the center is currently about $4 million and about $1 million in gift funding. Marucci has a high-level of engagement with the blueberry and cranberry and hosts many meetings and events for academia, industry and government. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Sr Admin Assistant
SPVR for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides full support to the center's administrative operations.
- Reviews and recommends new procedures and processes for implementation and provides oversight and coordination of daily administrative processes.
- Coordinates meetings create informational material for presentation.
- Serves as SEBS/NJAES liaison/representative and first point of contact for personnel, budgetary, facilities and financial matters.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Also requires 2 years of experience in an administrative position that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination facilitation, HR and finance.

- Requires exceptional organizational, communication, interpersonal, supervisory and computer skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task are necessary.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365.
- Must have the ability to resolve a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of NJAES and the Marucci Center and have a comprehensive understanding of administration/office management in accordance with management principles, applicable regulations, and university policies.

Preferred Qualifications |
- 5 years of experience in an administrative position that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination facilitation, HR and finance.
- Familiarity with Rutgers University business, HR and procurement systems, policies and procedures would be helpful.
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong preference for candidate with prior knowledge of/experience with the NJAES mission, organization, and research responsibilities.

Equipment Utilized |
- The successful candidate must be familiar with use of general office equipment such as copiers, printers and scanning equipment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint and familiar with Microsoft Access.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- The position is stationed in an office work environment in Chatsworth, NJ.
- Must have ability to perform light lifting of office files.
- Occasional on campus and possible off campus travel to campus sites for meetings may be required.
