Position Description
This position assists in the overall operation of the Unit Medication Room and distributes client's medications from filled prescriptions.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Administers medications and document as ordered. Adheres to facility policy and procedure of medication administration.
  • Performs support activities. Ensures drug room security, replaces facility medication, stocks and maintains the upkeep of the drug room and pharmaceutical equipment. Returns outdated medication to the pharmacy and keeps log books updated. Generates print passes.
  • Reports unusual occurrences (reactions, behaviors, refusals) to Registered Nurse
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent and Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) with current credential from the Texas Department of State Health Services, OR Successful completion of a certified medication aide training course and passage of State exam.
