Procurement Service Center Subcontract Administrator

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Office of the Chief Financial Officer Division has an opening for an Administrator to join the team.

In this exciting role, you will follow detailed procedures to purchase high-volume, low-risk items (e.g., lab supplies, chemicals, equipment, and maintenance services) in support of research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Purchases will adhere to the Prime Contract, UC Laboratory Procurement Standards, FAR, DEAR, and best business practices. You will also contribute to meeting the Service Center's KPIs and project objectives.

What You Will Do:



  • Procure high-volume, low-risk goods and services within delegated authority using appropriate methods, ensuring compliance with LBNL policies.
  • Place pCard orders and purchase orders based on customer needs and supplier capacity, resolving minor issues as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all orders per LBNL guidelines and notify relevant departments (e.g., Property Management, EHSS) of contractual responsibilities.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation and close-out of pCard and purchase orders.
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly, provide status updates, and ensure subcontract data is entered accurately into FMS.
  • Track open requisitions and orders and contribute to Service Center and Help Desk KPIs.
  • Offer procurement support and resolve issues of limited complexity, track inquiries in the Help Desk system, and collaborate on standardizing responses.



What is Required:



  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, and a minimum of 0-1 year of related experience.
  • General knowledge of procurement activities and systems, and an understanding of, or the ability to learn, Department's policies and procedures in order to provide advice and guidance to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to apply concepts and principles to research and resolve procurement related issues of limited scope and complexity.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively interact and build relationships with internal and external customers, including dealing with difficult customer service issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and handle a high volume workload.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet browsers.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or an electronic purchasing system.
  • Ability to work in excess of a normal workweek to meet assignments/deliverables.



Desired Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with applicable LBNL Procurement Standard Practices, Federal Acquisition Regulations and DOE Acquisition Regulations.



Notes:



  • This is a full time, 1 year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
  • Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, and certifications, and also aligned with the internal peer group. The budgeted annual salary range is 72,612.00 to 88,728.00.

  • This position has the option of working remotely. Work must be performed within the United States.
