Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |

Position Summary |
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Assistant Dean of Development will be responsible for leading a team of major gift fundraisers; cultivating and soliciting major gifts over $100,000 through building relationships with Kenan-Flagler's key donors and many new prospects; and helping chart the school's path to success in its next campaign. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Advancement and serves as a member of the school's Advancement Leadership Team. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Minimum of a bachelor's degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with related experience. For positions with responsibility for direct solicitation of gifts and funds, a minimum of 1 year of professional-level, direct solicitation/fundraising experience is required. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
The Assistant Dean will be an accomplished fundraising professional and leader with a proven track record of success, with a minimum of seven years of major gift fundraising experience. The Assistant Dean will also bring a proven track record of leading frontline fundraisers. Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, ability to meet multiple deadlines, excellent organizational skills, and computer skills. Ability to work independently, meet ambitious goals and interact effectively with alumni, friends, faculty, and staff in a public research university. Experience working with and inspiring the confidence of multiple constituencies, including advancement staff, volunteers, top-level donors and prospects, and administrative officials. Regular business travel and periodic /evening weekend work is required. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of ten years of major gift fundraising experience and five years in direct ask solicitations at the $100,000 level and above. |

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
