HRBI Assistant Director plays an intricate role in the investigating of allegations of health care providers, which protects citizens from unscrupulous providers.

Job Overview:

The Health-Related Boards Investigator Assistant Director (HRBI Asst Dir) will serve as executive manager and assistant to the Director. The duty for this position involves managing and supervising directly and indirectly the central office's internal operations which includes the supervision of the desk investigation team, complaint coordination team, and intake coordination team as well as collaborating with those conducting field operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Health-Related Boards Investigator Assistant Director (HRBI Asst Dir) will represent the department by assisting OIV's Director in managing and supervising staff and investigators involved in the overall internal operations.
  • The HRBI Asst Dir will supervise directly and indirectly all personnel assigned to the various internal operational teams; provide guidance to team leaders and team members assigned to the various teams within OIV's central office; monitor and assess the progress of each team and prepare plans in conjunction with the Director to facilitate the improvement of each team leader and member; prepares individual performance plans (IPP) for each team leader assigned to the central office and monitors the progress throughout the IPP cycle.
  • The HRBI Asst Dir must have the investigative knowledge and experience to provide guidance when necessary to OIV's field operations teams while they are investigating complaints throughout the state of Tennessee against licensed healthcare providers on behalf of the 34 health related boards for the State of Tennessee.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, public administration, or related field with at least five years of full-time investigative experience conducting healthcare investigations as well as supervisory experience.

Substitution of Experience for Education:

  • Qualifying full-time experience healthcare investigations may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.

Substitution of Graduate Education for Experience:

  • Additional graduate course work in healthcare investigations may be substituted for the required

Required Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, public administration, or related field with at least five years of full-time investigative experience conducting healthcare investigations as well as supervisory experience.

  • Qualifying full-time experience healthcare investigations may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.

Substitution of Graduate Education for Experience:

  • Additional graduate course work in healthcare investigations may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis to a maximum of one year.
