DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be tasked with responsibilities encompassing various SAR disciplines, including water rescue, urban search and rescue, and helicopter hoist rescue, among others. Furthermore, you will manage training, strategic planning, budgeting, the development of qualification standards, and the overall preparedness of personnel, equipment, and teams. A key aspect of this position will involve collaborating with SAR partners and stakeholders at both the Commonwealth and national levels to enhance an integrated SAR response system. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of a training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will receive the minimum starting salary listed on this posting. The starting salary is non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as an Emergency Management Specialist (commonwealth title); or
- Five years of professional experience in the development, coordination, or promotion of emergency-related programs such as disaster relief, public safety, and emergency management in government, industry, education, or the military; and a bachelor's degree; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional experience in the development, coordination, or promotion of emergency-related programs such as disaster relief, public safety, and emergency management in government, industry, education, or the military.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- All positions require certification in the following courses from the FEMA Emergency Management Institute:
- IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System
- IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
- IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction
- IS-2200: Basic Emergency Operations Center Functions
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
