Engineering Technician

In this role, you will participate in a comprehensive 12-month training program designed to provide a broad understanding of the roles and functions that traditionally require the technical skills, abilities and knowledge of an Engineering Technician. Candidate will be assigned to the Construction Unit upon successful completion of 12-month training program. You will perform a variety of beginning level technical work assignments in all phases of PennDOT including design, construction and maintenance. Employee will perform engineering support functions to each PENNDOT Unit and develop a basic understanding of departmental policies, procedures, organizational responsibilities and work flow. Training consists of scheduled rotational work assignments in Engineering Districts to gain familiarity with District personnel and procedures and to participate in work projects to achieve the overall training objective.

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time Ad-hoc, upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 9 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

• This specific position requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
