DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will contribute to the development, coordination, interpretation, and implementation of policies and procedures at NSH that impact the social work department. You will foster strong collaborative relationships with the multidisciplinary team, stay informed about treatment team schedules, and participate in community support planning meetings. Alongside collaboration, you will provide support during staff absences, assist with discharge planning, and ensure continuity of care for clients. You will also assign coverage during staff shortages, coordinate admissions, and oversee discharges on your assigned units. Additionally, you will assess the training needs of staff, recommend, and implement appropriate training, and evaluate its impact on staff performance. You will actively pursue professional development by attending meetings, training sessions, and seminars, and reviewing current social work literature to enhance your expertise. Furthermore, you will demonstrate a thorough understanding of departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Forensic Social Worker 2 or a Social Worker 2; and a master's degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • Three years of professional social work experience, including one year in a consultative, administrative, advisory, or lead work capacity; and a master's degree in social work or social welfare.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
