DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide program support to the Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps. The Outdoor Corps is a youth conservation work-skills training program that exists to train the next generation of conservation stewards, involve underserved populations in conservation and outdoor recreation, and to diversify DCNR's workforce. You will also be responsible for other duties and assignments as the Outdoor Corps program continues to evolve. The Outdoor Corps is designed to integrate youth into the conservation workforce as they undertake projects to protect, conserve, promote, and enhance natural resources within Pennsylvania. You will also work as a member of a team responsible for program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.

The selected candidate must report in-office to one of the following locations of their choice:

  • Rachel Carson Building - 400 Market Street Harrisburg, PA 17105
  • State Parks Region 4 Office - 2808 Three Mile Run Road Perkasie, PA 18944-2065
  • Nescopeck State Park Office - 1137 Honeyhole Road Drums, PA 18222

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Natural Resource Program Specialist 2 (commonwealth title); or
  • Four years of professional experience in natural resource management or natural resource education; and a bachelor's degree in natural resource management, parks and recreation, education, biology, forestry, ecology, geosciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
