DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator, you will perform skilled work and operate light and heavy construction equipment to maintain roads, grounds, utilities, and facilities at Fort Indiantown Gap. You will pave surfaces, remove snow, and replace pipes on roads, parking lots, and trails. You will also operate large equipment including backhoes, bulldozers, rollover snowplows, and tractor mowers. This position requires safe and knowledgeable equipment operation that complies with DMVA safety rules to avoid injury, risks, and hazards. In addition, you will read blueprints, grade stakes, and markings on excavation sites; maintain vehicles and equipment with a gross vehicle weight up to 32,001 pounds; and demonstrate proper equipment operation to other employees. - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A; or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
- A conditional offer is contingent on passing a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit at the time of hire. (Once you are hired, the agency will send you to classes for a Class A CDL that you must obtain within 6 months after hire.)
- You must obtain a Tanker Endorsement (N) within one year of employment.
- You must obtain a Bio-Solid Application Certification within one year of employment.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions
- Experience operating a refuse/recycling truck
- Experience operating a wheeled/tract front-end loader
- Experience operating heavy trucks/tractor trailers
- Experience with snow removal
- Experience cutting grass using a large tractor with a gang-mower attachment
