A Brief Overview This individual will specialize in surveillance within the Infection Prevention and Control Program. Responsibilities will entail collating, validating, managing and analyzing data across multiple acute care sites and the post-acute continuum. Comprehensive methods will be used to measure and report outcomes through the ongoing surveillance of data, identification of healthcare associated infections in a timely manner, and advanced data and analytics to support the infection prevention and clinical teams in achieving improved health outcomes. Additionally, the position is responsible for synthesizing and interpreting clinical and administrative data, evaluating trends and statistical significance, developing expertise and ownership of specific measure definitions and datasets, and utilizing computer skills to develop and maintain complex reporting systems
What you will do
- Conducts infection control surveillance and program activities through daily review of microbiology reports and chart abstraction using National Healthcare Safety Network definitions.
- Supports the expanded development and optimization of an electronic surveillance system to support healthcare associated infection identification and other surveillance activities.
- Utilizes applications that have capabilities to assist in identifying clusters of epidemiologically important pathogens, creating alerts of newly detected multi-drug resistant organisms and improve efficiency and analysis of large quantities of data.
- Define, validate and manage measures and data related to safety, quality, service and population health. Maintain expertise in measure definition for reporting.
- Independently and accurately creates and updates reference documents with current definitions and workflows.
- Creates reports and/or dashboards to visualize and track baselines, benchmarks, targets and current performance.
- Communicates analysis and reports of infection data, assists in assessing success of interventions and tracking auditing data.
- Participates in the professional development, mentoring and competency of team members as it pertains to surveillance activities.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Healthcare field of study Required
- Master's Degree Preferred
- Master's Degree Public health or healthcare related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least two (2) years as a healthcare professional Preferred
- At least two (2) years infection prevention Preferred

Licenses and Certifications
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology - within 24 months - Required
- Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Preferred or
- Licensed Pharmacist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Preferred or
- Medical Technologist (MT) - American Society Clinical Pathologists - upon hire - Preferred
