Job Summary

The UCSF School of Medicine (SOM) seeks a candidate with diverse perspectives and experiences to join our team and serve as the central financial services analyst for the Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) for live activities (multiple-day conferences in off-site venues), completing all purchasing and payment transactions, reconciling vendor payments, general ledger coding for operational budgets, processing checks and ledger journals, and interpreting, communicating, and administrating the financial policies of the University, UCSF, the SOM and OCME. The analyst will assist in the preparation of financial statements for continuing education activities, research policy to provide guidance to other support staff, process faculty one-time payments and staff reimbursements, code general ledger line-items to specific activities to assist in the creation of the office's operational budget.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $71,000 - $116,700 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Office of Continuing Medical Education, (OCME) is responsible for the administration, accreditation, and presentation of more than 450 UCSF continuing education activities for multiple professions and medical specialties for various academic, clinical and research departments in all four professional schools. Continuing education is delivered at live conferences and online.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 3+ years of directly relevant experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Strong interpersonal skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
