THE ROLE

Cognizant Technology Modernization is changing the game in Data, Cloud and Generative AI based consultancy services. Tech Modernization is almost like a boutique consultancy inside of Cognizant that creates change in how technology is used and fosters an innovative engineering culture.

We strategically drive modern engineering practices and ways of working, along with helping clients in all aspects of enterprise technology solution modernization including AI, Cloud, DevOps, Data and more.

We're looking for Data Manager Consultant who can deliver within Cognizant's Five Pillars of Consulting Excellence, which are: 1) Project Execution, 2) Expertise, 3) Business Development, 4) Practice Development, & 5) People Development.

As the Manager, this means overseeing advisory consulting engagements, being a trusted advisor to clients, establishing oneself as a thought leader in your field, solving complex problems, consultatively working with a client to achieve business goals, driving contributions to offerings and innovations, and serving as a people leader, guiding multiple teams as they work to transform a client and the world. In addition to enabling consulting excellence through the Five Pillars of Consulting, the specific requirements for this position are below.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage teams working on consulting projects across industries.
  • Develop and implement data strategies that align with client goals and technical requirements.
  • Build strong client relationships to identify business opportunities and ensure project success.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering insights into emerging data technologies and trends.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines, data lakes, and warehouses.
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and scalability of data solutions.
  • Oversee data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and workflow orchestration.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and architects to support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.
  • Drive cloud migration efforts and adoption of cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data security regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, SOC2).
  • Mentor and coach associates providing technical guidance and career development opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Establish best practices, coding standards, and documentation processes.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define success metrics for data projects.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risk in project execution.
  • Elevate the Cognizant brand from mere solution vendor to business-focused transformation partner, based on earning the trust and confidence of clients.
  • Ensure accurate understanding of a client's business challenges and their optimum alignment to engagements delivering Cognizant solutions.
  • Capitalize on successful project outcomes in pursuit of further client business partnering and involvement with the client's development of strategic digital transformation roadmaps.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Data experience, with at least 3 years in leadership or managerial role.
  • Consulting or client-facing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow).
  • Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure SQL Database)
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data management practices.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, PowerDesigner, or equivalent), as well as data modeling techniques.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala, R, SQL and database scripting).
  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration.
  • Experience with modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran, Databricks).
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, DLP, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.

WORK AUTHORIZATION:

  • Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship (H-1B, L-1B, L-1A, etc.)

SALARY AND OTHER COMPENSATION:

The annual salary for this position is between $81,450-129,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
