TECHNICAL PATH
Scope The Senior Electrical Engineer 3 will lead projects as a project manager or the lead engineer for the delivery of large and highly complex projects. They will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include project management, engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. Additional responsibilities include working within the project's monetary budget, leading training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Principal Responsibilities *Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards *Performs site assessments and generates detailed analysis and technical reports *Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively. Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication *Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence. Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements *Train, mentor, and motivate staff *Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with minimal support from senior staff *Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; Lead research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG *Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work; Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems *Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals *Lead project interviews and project presentations Required Skills/Abilities *Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems *Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI) *Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu *Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others *Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise *Ability to sell work and develop client relationships *Strong training and mentoring skills *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups *Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment *Attention to detail and problem-solving skills *Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook *Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays Education and Experience *Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required *Professional Engineer (PE) License required *14 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in the building design consulting industry Physical Requirements *Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds *Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull *Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises PROJECT MANAGEMENT PATH Scope The Senior Electrical Engineer 3 will lead projects as a project manager or the lead engineer for the delivery of large and highly complex projects. Principal Responsibilities *Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity; Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients *Collaborate with business development staff, Project Executives, Client Executives, and Market Directors / Leaders during the initial stages of project opportunities *Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews *Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines *Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly *Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements. Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner *Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction. Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation *Participate in project interviews and project presentations *Respond to and resolve client/construction concerns.
