We have an exciting opportunity for an Ocean Operations Manager for our Miami Station responsible for optimizing processes and driving performance improvements. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design and implementation of Operations Process & Performance plans. Your role will be to identify, analyze, and improve existing general business processes to reduce costs, defects/errors, and rework while enhancing product/service quality in line with our business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end ocean freight forwarding operations, including booking, documentation, tracking, and delivery of shipments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all ocean freight shipments.
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, carriers, and other logistics partners to optimize shipping routes and schedules.

Customer Service:

  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing their needs and resolving any issues related to ocean freight services.
  • Provide regular updates to customers on the status of their shipments.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
  • Stay updated on changes in international trade regulations and implement necessary adjustments in operations.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of ocean freight coordinators and support staff.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance and knowledge.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor and control operational costs to ensure profitability.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and service providers to achieve cost savings.
  • Analyze financial reports and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilize technology and automation tools to streamline operations and reduce manual workload.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for ocean freight operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ocean freight forwarding or logistics operations.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
