This opportunity is in the Actuarial Services Department.

Our Actuarial department is a dynamic group of professionals focusing on enterprise risk management, pricing, reserving, and data analysis for all lines of business. The actuarial team analyzes and models all aspects of enterprise risk management risks, including but not limited to, underwriting risk, operational risk, credit risk, etc., ; creates, maintains and updates pricing models for underwriters to utilize; creates reserving estimates for all lines of business and assists with financial- and claims-related items, helping the organization to succeed using our insurance expertise. We aim to improve practices and efficiency across the organization, while using data to the fullest potential to gain insights that help Safety National meet our goals.

Role Description:

Safety National is seeking a Senior ERM Analyst to join our innovative and collaborative team. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to our company's strategic risk management efforts by leveraging advanced modeling techniques (typically actuarial modeling), innovative methodologies, and deploying your knowledge of insurance operations. Key Responsibilities:



  • Time Management & Multitasking: Exhibit exceptional organizational skills to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Build and maintain proficiency in ERM modeling principles and practices by completing relevant exams or educational programs.
  • Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of ERM methodologies by conducting research and adopting innovative modeling techniques and technologies.
  • Communication: Articulate complex modeling fundamentals and differences across platforms to supervisors, peers, and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Data Analysis: Translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical professionals, fostering informed decision-making.
  • Project Support: Assist with ad-hoc ERM and Actuarial Services projects, contributing to the design and enhancement of analytical reports.
  • Collaboration: Participate in inter-departmental committees to support career growth and assigned management initiatives.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to less experienced modelers while supporting the company's business operations through ERM modeling methodologies.
  • Data Infrastructure & Reporting: Maintain the ERM model data infrastructure and generate routine reports to meet departmental needs.
  • Strategic Contributions: Compile and analyze data for Tokio Marine's ERM model, focusing on Cyber Accumulations & Risk and IFRS Risk Adjustment.
  • Policy Development: Advise the SNCC CRO on ERM policies and procedures, including key areas such as Cyber Risk, Model Risk Management, and Capital Management.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Prepare internal ERM documentation, metric analyses, and reports.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field of study
  • 5 or more years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management or a related actuarial or insurance field
  • Proficiency in ERM modeling methods, with a strong understanding of emerging technologies and principles.


  • Fluent understanding of insurance company operations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and other software in order to maintain models and recommend improvements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively work with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining appropriate continuing education credits to maintain credentials


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA)
  • Professional experience working in commercial Property & Casualty industry
  • Knowledge of International Fair Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
  • Programming experience and the use of data analysis tools such as VBA, SQL, R, or Python a plus.

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
