HDR is seeking a Transportation Planner to support our Ohio transit team.

In the role of Transportation Planner, we'll count on you to:



  • Demonstrate public meeting and planning experience
  • Collect, assimilate and manage project-related data
  • Assist in preparation and participation of public information meetings
  • Participate in planning work sessions in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines
  • Coordinate your workload to complete deliverables on schedule
  • Support a variety of transportation planning projects including corridor studies, complete streets, bicycle planning, transit planning, long range planning, community planning, or public engagement.
  • Assist in creating technical reports, studies, presentations, and other materials for stakeholders and clients to document planning study findings.
  • Perform other duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field
  • 2 years of relevant transportation planning experience
  • Possess excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Understanding of transportation planning principles
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Geographic Information Systems
  • Possess excellent writing skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail and quality
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Transit, Bicycle, and/or Pedestrian Planning Experience
  • Experience working on projects with transit agencies, municipalities, state, and federal government organizations with relevance to transportation and transit in Ohio
