POSITION SUMMARY: Supports projects relating to quality and safety initiatives in the department of otolaryngology - head and neck surgery (OHNS) as a project manager. This includes collecting and analyzing data pertaining to safety outcomes, and quality metrics; ensuring registry participation; collating information regarding patient / family satisfaction; participation in case reporting and review; participation in educational activities relating to quality and safety. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Projects - Serves as contact and manages implementation for Quality and PROMS projects - Establishes milestones; monitors adherence to plans, budgets, schedules - Leads project review meetings - Identifies problems and develops solutions, such as allocation of resources or change of scope - Participates and completes data collection, where applicable - Provides effective communication to keep everyone on board with projects - Undertakes and completes other projects as required, including preparation of presentations - Helps identify risks and opportunities 2. Coordination of Quality and Safety Initiatives - Develop strong knowledge base regarding quality metrics for the OHNS specialty - Closely monitors departmental performance on internal and external metrics and ensures the department is making the right steps to meet and exceed the metrics - Closely monitors departmental safety initiatives and performance - Support leadership in monitoring departmental quality and safety metrics for trends and variances - Ensure that OHNS leadership is informed of quality issues discovered in the preceding reviews - Work with leadership to develop and implement performance metrics and targets for both suburban practice locations as well as the hospital based practices - Facilitates communication between clinic, division, and department leaders - Implements, both remotely and in-person, patient reported outcome metric surveys in clinic - Helping clinic leaders create teams and plans to address Quality & Safety Issues - Coordinate departmental meetings with external OHNS registry for quality and safety goals 3. Patient and family satisfaction - Work with leadership and Department staff to foster an environment of patient and family centered care - Ensure clinical leaders are engaging front-line staff and physicians in improving patient experience - Collect and analyze patient satisfaction data 4. Other Duties(include the following) - Attends relevant remote and/or in person meetings related to above roles, as determined by leadership, including Morbidity and Mortality conference and weekly Quality Meeting - Synthesizes relevant information for presentation or forwarding in a timely manner - Compiles, researches, and prepares documents for presentations - Troubleshooting as needed - Recommends improvements and implements changes for the most effective support for all departmental functions Keywords: PROMs, Quality, EPIC.
REQUIRED SKILLS: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to manage and coordinate multiple activities and shifting priorities under tight time frames - Organizational, analytical, problem solving, planning, and decision making skills - Strong analytical and problem solving skills - Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with understanding if HIPAA restrictions - Excel and other spreadsheets EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Bachelors in business or equivalent combination of education and experience - 3 - 5 years in healthcare preferred - Proficient with computers and data analysis software.
