Summary

The Tender Manager is responsible for managing the internal tender process for new and existing business opportunities while ensuring that DSV provides the most competitive and profitable bids to clients. The Tender Manager will be required to work with various procurement departments such as air, sea, road as well as brokerage if necessary, plus commercial or operational stakeholders to ensure that all relevant information is included in the bid pricing process. This role requires a deep understanding of the industry, strong process execution skills, and the ability to handle escalations and lead calls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. They should also have strong communication skills and the ability to work well with peers and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities




  • Executes on multiple tasks and activities through the RFx process, including accurate pricing which is offered via a database through management advisories.





  • Responsible for working with other company functions to learn and gain expert knowledge on the appropriate DSV solution offerings.





  • In the event of coordinating the internal pricing for a tender, the tender manager must be able to evaluate, coordinate, and document the tender scope to the internal DSV coordinator but also to any stakeholder which needs analysis.





  • Ability to learn and adapt to Sourcify as a communication tool.





  • Maintains document control procedures per the established department Policy.





  • Plans, implements and executes pricing recommendations and manages internal "WIP" or Work in Progress notes.





  • Audits and reviews processes to ensure compliance with pricing recommendations.





  • Communicates strategic recommendations given by the commercial lead - by working with business units to analyze and understand all necessary data, including internal sales data, market trends, competitive landscape and current prices.





  • Populates pricing requests with proper rates, accessorial, and fuel billing rules.





  • Accepts, deciphers and processes pricing requests in a timely manner.





  • Takes initiative in identifying and resolving issues around pricing and serves as an advisor to the team lead for priority policy change requests.





  • General administration functions adhering to department policies & procedures.





  • Stay informed and up to date with all inter department meetings, minutes of meetings, and changes within the industry for air and sea.





  • Meets deadlines during peak seasons as well as re-tooling suggestions during low seasons





Key Responsibilities





  • Develop awareness of global supply chain events, DSV announcements, and geopolitical pressures affecting long-term pricing.





  • Troubleshoot special requirements outside of the usual standard process and rates, recognizing red flags.





  • Understand and utilize USTM folders, pricing tools, admin direction, policies, and MoM if unable to attend weekly meetings.





  • Communicate details pre and post tender pricing submission with clear guidelines, standards, default positions, exceptions, etc.





  • Coordinate small and large groups of stakeholders with a calm demeanor, asking for default positions if ambiguity is present, and asking for clear decisions decisively.





  • Understand conflicts, identify root causes, find resolutions, and execute plans of action with respect to colleagues, self, and team, offering guidance on proper DSV resolution persons if unable to execute.





  • Make decisions on competing priorities by choosing top accounts while managing smaller tenders to meet deadlines, escalating questions hindering deadlines and maintaining organization.





  • Assist USTM colleagues with peer review, spar Q&A for best practice, and most common oversights, keeping well-documented notes for your buddy if they are out or a handoff is needed.





  • Understand stakeholders, roles, and titles, and be able to understand their perspectives. Identify DSV Executive Team, Regional Directors, Sales Managers, and differentiate US vs Non-US staff who might be included in email communications.





Educational background / Work experience




  • Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, or Logistics





  • 3-5 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industry, with a focus on tender management and pricing, with keen understanding of sea and air standard routings





Skills & Competencies




  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills





  • Excellent communication skills via email at all levels of internal staff and management





  • Posses the ability to speak to granular detail but also at a high level summary analysis





  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously





  • Strong affinity for number based projects





  • Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet project deadlines and manage tight deadlines as required





  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel





  • Knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape





Language skills




  • Fluent in English (oral and written)

For this position, the expected base pay is:$62,500- $84,500/ Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
