What you'll do

As a Contracts Administrator supporting Viasat's Antenna Systems (AS) business area, you will support a wide range of proposals, contracts and programs in a cradle-to-grave manner for AS's ground station products and services. This position requires a fundamental understanding of US Government FAR and DFARS contracting (primarily FAR Part 12), as well as familiarity with UCC Article 2 and general commercial contracting principles. You will also be responsible for completion of representations and certifications and other proposal submissions. You will also serve as the key terms and conditions negotiator for resulting contracts.


The day-to-day

Your strong interpersonal skills will be applied in collaborating with other Viasat departments and building rapport with your customer counterparts. You must be able to demonstrate that you can analyze, interpret and effectively connect with various levels of management on contractual requirements, obligations and risks. Support and diplomacy in helping the business resolve contractual issues is also required. Organization, attention to detail and the focus to close actions in a dynamic environment are vital to be successful in this position. Occasional travel to visit customers may be required.


What you'll need

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Contracts Administration or other related field of study (Accounting, Finance, Management, Economics), or equivalent experience.
  • 3-6 years of contract administration of large U.S. Government FAR Part 12 prime contracts and/or subcontracts (experience with FAR Part 15 a bonus and preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR Part 12 commercial item assertions and price justification
  • Thorough understanding of protecting intellectual property in U.S. Government prime contracts and subcontracts, including through development of data rights assertions
  • Experience negotiating U.S. Government and commercial terms and conditions
  • Working knowledge of various contract types, including Firm Fixed Price, Time and Material, and Cost-reimbursable contracts
  • Strong communication and writing skills, including the ability to write courteous, concise and impactful correspondence and brief senior leadership on proposal and program risks
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and goals in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

Salary range

$83,000.00 - $120,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $103,500.00- $139,500.00/ annually
