What you'll do

Viasat is seeking an Associate Tax Manager to assist with special projects on a short-term basis. The Associate Tax Manager will be involved in designated projects supporting aspects of international tax for a global company operating in 80+ countries! This role will primarily include supporting the international aspects of the income tax provision, country-by-country reporting, and management of local country tax compliance and projects for selected countries.

You will join a talented and diversified tax team located in our global headquarters in Carlsbad, California and report to the Senior Director, Global Tax. The day-to-day

  • Preparation and/or review of quarterly and annual international aspects of the global income tax provision (ASC 740), including BEAT, GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, E&P, FTC, and FIN 48.
  • Prepare and/or review Country by Country Report (CbCR) and notifications.
  • Prepare Pillar II tax regime quarterly safe-harbor calculations and assist with Global Anti-Base Erosion (GloBE) implementation.
  • Research and analyze impact of enacted and potential law changes and prepare memos and action plans to support tax positions.
  • Assist on special tax projects partnering across the business, global tax team, and finance organization.

What you'll need

  • 4+ years of experience in public accounting with preference working for a Big 4 Firm with significant US international tax compliance experience.
  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required. Master's in Taxation a plus. Will also consider those with a law degree that have been focused in international tax.
  • CPA certification highly encouraged.
  • Strong research and writing, Excel modeling, and oral communication skills.
  • Open to a remote work location but must be able to come into the Carlsbad, CA office once a week.

What will help you on the job

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, with an emphasis on the US International provisions.
  • Foundational knowledge of tax laws in various countries helpful.
  • Strong analytical skills, self-organization, and attention to details.
  • Ability to handle complex accounting and tax issues and projects in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and cross functionally.

Salary range

$101,500.00 - $145,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $126,500.00- $171,500.00/ annually
