The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University invites applicants for this on-site position at the Assistant Professor level in the fast-growing Biology Department for our main campus in Manchester, NH. Reporting to the Dean of our School of Arts, Sciences, and Education you will help grow our B.S. in Biology program and teach courses in General Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, and Cell Culture, plus associated labs. There are also opportunities to engage with students and faculty across the university, including the College of Engineering, Technology, and Aeronautics.

You will need to demonstrate an excitement for biology, a passion for teaching undergraduates, and for pursuing scholarly endeavors. We encourage scholarship and research to foster engagement with undergraduate students

What you'll do:

• Teach courses following approved course descriptions and class schedules, typically four courses per semester
• Participate in the departmental efforts for curriculum development, program reviews and accreditation under the supervision of the department chair
• Collaborate with the faculty/staff in departmental and School-level projects
• Attend professional improvement activities to maintain contact with one's academic discipline, including teaching/learning processes and development of knowledge in one's field of specialization
• Participate in student career development and related advising or mentoring activities and special retention programs
• Engineer problem-based and experiential learning approaches to classroom learning
• Other related duties as assigned to support the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education, and University College.

What we're looking for:

• PhD in Cell Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, or a related field
• Teaching experience at the college level
• Background in health science related areas, such as Public Health, Cell Culture, Bioengineering, Immunology, or Pathophysiology

Below we have noted the entire pay band for this position. The actual offer will be based on experience, skills, degree, discipline, and other business and organizational needs. We expect this particular position to be hired in the following target range of $60,000-$70,000.
