Subject Matter Expert Job ID: #69405 Pay Rate: $74-81 Subject Matter Expert - Carbon Composite Process Engineer Primary responsibilities to include: * Conduct deep dive on composite documentation from composite suppliers - materials selection, design allowables test program, qualification program, etc * Audit suppliers composite fabrication processes including process development and process qualification * Present findings and recommendations for materials and manufacturing process improvement * Design and carry out test programs related to composite materials and manufacturing process improvements * Collaborate with Design, Systems, and Analyst engineering teams to identify priorities, elevate barriers, and work projects to completion Requirements for this position: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field * Minimum of 15 years of experience in composite manufacturing * Candidate must have a strong background in carbon composite materials and manufacturing processes including: o Carbon/Epoxy manual layup o Composite design allowables development o Troubleshooting manufacturing issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective action * Must have experience with aerospace composite structures - development and fabrication * Experience with resolving complex and high-profile technical challenges in a dynamic setting * Excellent communication and time management skills * MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, etc...) proficiency required * Ability to travel internationally and domestically, up to 50% Preferences for the position: * Experience with carbon/phenolic composite systems * Experience with filament winding or tape place composite manufacturing * Experience with C/C or C/SiC composites * Experience with out of autoclave curing of carbon/epoxy composites * Experience with use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) in a manufacturing environment Security Clearance / International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR).
