What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Follow all safety, lock out tag out, and environmental rules and procedures.

Oversees and Supervises all repair and maintenance processes for Company-owned equipment and vehicles while maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

* Supervises activities of workers (mechanics) engaged in repairing and maintaining cars, trucks and heavy mobile equipment to ensure a safe and efficient operation.

* Coordinates outsourcing repairs and services not performed by fleet maintenance personnel.

* Schedules and supervises mechanics and provides assistance as necessary to facilitate repairs.

* Ensures proper preventive maintenance and repairs for all equipment. Maintains all required records, permits and licenses.

* Participates in truck inspections.

* Participates in the selection, training, evaluation and discharge of personnel as required.

* Supervises and counsels personnel as appropriate.

* Ensures personnel are qualified for the repairs they perform and provides training to keep pace with current technology.

* Ensures personnel are qualified and well trained.

* Familiar with and enforces all VMC policy and procedures including safety and environmental.

* Conducts safety meetings and facility safety and environmental inspections as required.

Create Work Orders. Create work orders on all repairs and services, providing legible and accurate information for all work performed.

Communicate. Communicate with personnel to ensure proper, safe, and preventative vehicle maintenance.

Use Equipment. Use various equipment, such as cutting torch, air and hand tools, jacks, grinders, and drill press.

Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the mechanical field is required, with a minimum of 2 years at the Supervisory level in similar roles.

Certifications. MED HVY Truck ASE Certification is preferred.

Communication Skills. Must be able to read memos, instructions, and communicate verbally with fellow employees to solve problems.

Basic Math Skills. Must be able to add, subtract, and know basic units of measurement.

Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Salary Range. The base salary range for this role is between $98,772 - $138,252 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
