Job Summary:

The Senior Project Manager is a highly experienced and results-oriented individual responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of a diverse portfolio of complex projects, including both customer-facing and internal initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and budgets. The Senior Project Manager will also play a key role in mentoring and developing Project Specialists, ensuring best practices are followed across the project management team.

Responsibilities:



  • Project Management:

    • Lead the full project lifecycle for a variety of complex projects, including:

      • Developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
      • Coordinating necessary resources and managing vendor relationships.
      • Monitoring project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and resolving issues.
      • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required Belden quality standards.
      • Conducting regular project status meetings with stakeholders and leadership (Sr Director and above).
      • Preparing and presenting project reports, presentations, and executive summaries.
      • Providing leadership and direction to achieve project goals through management, communication, and ownership of projects.
      • Promoting behavior-based safety in execution of project. Ensuring applicable rules, controls and training requirements are met. Model and encourage safe work habits.
      • Liaise between client, solution consultants, solution engineers and subcontractor personnel to ensure safe, timely, and profitable outcome.
      • Identifying and securing necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
      • Utilizing extensive knowledge of basic engineering fundamentals and practices to track and budget progress with project milestones.


    • Provide project management support to other departments as needed.


  • Customer Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction and project success.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on project-related matters.
    • Proactively identify and address client concerns and issues.


  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Mentor and guide Project Specialists on project management methodologies, best practices, and tools.
    • Provide training and coaching to Project Specialists on specific project management skills.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.


  • Strategic Planning & Support:

    • Assist the Senior Director in developing and implementing project management strategies and best practices.
    • Analyze project performance data and identify areas for improvement.
    • Contribute to the development of project management tools and templates.
    • Backup the Senior Director as needed, including representing the department at leadership meetings.


  • Compliance:

    • Ensure all projects are executed in accordance with relevant industry standards and Belden policies.




Required Skills and Experience

Education and Experience



  • BS/BA in related subject area, or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years related experience and/or training in project management. Experience in industrial networking and/or automation favored.
  • Proven grasp of the relevancy and interaction of manufacturing operational processes such as Procurement, Scheduling, Quality and Engineering.
  • Demonstrated success as a member of a Project Team.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated and have experience in working in a large matrix corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of process improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma, or related practical approaches.
  • Thorough understanding of Project Management principles, methods and techniques, principles, methods and ability to create and utilize Smartsheet with milestones, actualized management and CPM analysis.
  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet or other.

  • Heavy experience with contract review and negotiations.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adherence to timelines, schedules and deliverables is a critical proficiency.
  • Experience leading client review discussions.
  • Proven analytical skills, with the ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
  • Basic technical knowledge in industrial networking and/or automation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic technical knowledge in industrial networking and/or automation


Essentials



  • PMP certification required.
  • Experience with field construction or project management.
  • Knowledge of project estimates, schedules, budgets, and forecasting
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and focus on project completion.
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Detail oriented. Able to review product characteristics to identify specific traits and build accurate documentation based on reviewed data.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
