JOB SUMMARY To provide journeyman level skills in performance of electrical work. This is a Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm position. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required Education High School Diploma High school graduation or GED equivalent or Vocational school Experience 4 years skilled or journeyman level experience as an Electrician Licenses and Certifications (ELEC) ELECTRICAL JOURNEYMAN Must have current licensure as a Journeyman Electrician issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Upon Hire JOB DUTIES Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances, using handtools and testing instruments, to supply electrical power for lighting and operation of equipment and apparatus. Inspects and tests electrical circuits and equipment; isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other equipment, replacing defective wiring, switches, sockets, plugs, and insulators. Installs new wiring and electrical apparatus, using blueprints and diagrams to determine correct location and layout; runs wire through conduit, and makes connections to complete circuits. Assembles, installs, and connects components of switchboards and distribution panels, and connects to units controlled. Assists in estimating time and materials required for job. Troubleshoots and maintains all lighting circuits on campus. Performs other duties as assigned.
