Job Description

Job Title: Regional Director of HR - South Region

Reports to: Chief Human Resources Officer

Position Location: Houston, TX

Job Objective: The Regional Director of HR is responsible for driving people and culture initiatives and strategies within a region by partnering with the regional leadership team and key stakeholders within the HR department. Oversees the development of procedures to analyze trends and develop workforce plans to resolve issues and make a positive impact on business results. The key elements of this role include strategic planning, developing, and coordination of policies, procedures and programs in the areas of employment, talent development, training, salary administration, compensation administration and performance management. Provides management, coaching and development of field HR team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties requested by management. Assigned responsibilities and duties may vary based upon location size and operation.

Field Operations:



  • Act as a trusted advisor and partner to business leaders, providing advice, guidance, and support on all HR matters, including but not limited to employee relations, talent management, talent development, performance management, and compensation.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of HR professionals to ensure the effective delivery of HR services across the region.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, managers, and external partners.
  • In coordination with the subject matter experts and the CHRO, lead all activities related to M&A in the region including due diligence, integration and post-integration.
  • Partner and collaborate with regional executive leadership to align HR initiatives with business strategy.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the region and HR team.
  • Strategize with the subject matter experts in total rewards, talent acquisition, talent development, employee engagement and HR systems to develop, implement and execute key initiatives in support of the overall talent strategy and cultural transformation.
  • Build and manage successful regional team relationships with the RVP's and staff to align field team structure and projects to best support the needs of the business.
  • Partner with total rewards team to implement and update compensation programs as needed; including but not limited to revising and creating job descriptions as necessary; conducting on demand salary surveys and administering merit pool (salary budget).
  • Work with the talent development team to administer, communicate and educate field-based team on performance management processes, including goal setting and performance evaluations and related systems and tools.
  • Evaluate and develop strategic plans to impact associate metrics (i.e. turnover, hire/rehire, trends by role etc.) to ensure a stable, and engaged workforce.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and professional development of the field HR team members.
  • Partner with leadership to provide consultative advice and counsel to management on matters related to human resource utilization, problem solving, discipline, employment law, strategic planning and other areas as needed or requested. Consults on terminations and other employment matters.
  • Support programs that drive employee engagement related to cultural transformation.
  • Manage and resolve complex associate relations issues both directly and indirectly through HR partners.
  • Responsible for partnering with leadership and Field HR to develop strategic programs and plans for associate training and development:

    • Identify training needs for business and individual coaching needs
    • Deliver evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs.
    • Identify high potential associates and ensure a strong career path is outlined.
    • Partner with field HR, talent and leadership on lifecycle of trainees, to ensure continual development of trainees for the region supporting succession planning needs.




Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Oversees the daily workflow of the HRBP's and any assigned HR staff.
  • Provides constructive feedback to staff on areas for development and growth as well as recognition for accomplishments in their roles.
  • Handles discipline and termination of associates in accordance with company policy.

  • Strategize with leadership and stakeholders to continually develop the organization's culture.
  • Approach daily activities with a combination of strategic thinking, interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of HR best practices and legal compliance.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into HR Strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in an HR discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent consulting and business literacy skills.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships- gaining support and achieving results.
  • Ability to manage and develop the HR field operations team for current and future needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to be flexible and available to interact with associates at all levels.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Keeps an open and objective view.
  • Able to maintain composure, stay focused, listen empathetically and be respectful.
  • Able to stay organized and handle multiple projects at one time - following up and making accurate decisions.
  • Abide by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Support and contribute to overall strategy and development of corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Travel to branch locations as needed- up to 25% of the time.
  • Lead HR programs for new acquisitions.
  • Strong understanding of labor and employment laws and regulations.

  • Walking: move about inside the office and/or branch facilities as well as airport/travel needs
  • Sit/Stand: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time
  • Capable of traveling as required
