Overview
Coordinates the operations and personnel of the Pulmonary Function Lab. Performs a full range of pulmonary function diagnostic testing using a variety of equipment modalities, assesses and instructs patients in correct procedures for optimal results. Performs therapeutic services as indicated. Qualifications Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: College Diploma: Respiratory Therapy (Required), Work Experience: Responsibilities Completes a full range of pulmonary function testing; Administers respiratory care modalities and monitors effects of therapy. Performs accurate documentation. Prepares patient for transportation and transport. Schedules employees and completes on-time performance evaluations Assists leadership with the orientation and training of new and existing staff. Maintains service area in manner which assures availability of services. Maintains knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment. Patient Care and Departmental Functions: Full range of Pulmonary Function Testing including specialty testing, i.e., Pre- Post Exercise Spirometry Stress Testing, Methacholine Challenge, Arterial Blood Gases, and FeNO (fraction Exhaled Nitric Oxide). Performs accurate documentation in EPIC electronic medical record. Fax required testing information to outside referrals and DME companies (Home 02 Qualify / Recertification). Performs quality control / calibration on all pulmonary function equipment. Prepares test reports and patient for the follow-up appointments with the provider. Educates patients as needed on disease processes, medications and their delivery methods. Supervision: Coordinates daily operations for the Pulmonary Function Labs. Supervisors Pulmonary Function Technologists. Monitors employee performance, establishes annual employee goals and conducts performance evaluations. Conducts interviews, rounds on employees, schedules paid leave, and enforces policies and protocols, and disciplinary action when necessary. Delegates responsibility to appropriate staff and monitors accomplishments. Assures adequate training of Pulmonary Function Technologists in Pulmonary Medicine as well as in branch locations. Reviews and revises department protocols. Ensures proper functioning of medical equipment. Works in cooperation with the Patient Care Manager on organizational and departmental projects. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $31.62per hour - $54.39per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
