Intralox, L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has a position available for a Mechanical Engineer on our Thermodrive team in our New Orleans or Grand Rapids office. The Mechanical Engineer develops, designs, and manages the fabrication, implementation and testing of various components and equipment for complex conveyance projects.

Responsibilities

Support design from the conceptual phase through prototype, qualification, and into production, as a key member of the development team. -
Support the generation of designs that are relevant, useful and cost effective. -
Manage projects from conceptualization through completion. -
Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, heat transfer, vibration, acoustics and materials in accordance with standard mechanical engineering and design formulas. -
Assess feasibility of equipment in customer applications -
Participate in ongoing design reviews and brainstorming sessions with other engineers. -
Support engineering design through an understanding of manufacturing process, cost estimating, creation of parts lists, sourcing, etc. -
Prepare equipment manuals and other project documentation -
Support equipment installation and start-up often on-site at customer plants -
Some work will be at customer locations so there will be a requirement to travel up to [25%] of the time.
Requirements
-
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering curriculum (i.e. controls or electrical with an interest in mechanical work) with 7+ years of related experience -
Experience in industrial mechanical design or related field -
Experience with 2-D/3-D CAD, MS Office, and other widely used software packages. -
Strong analytical skills that can quickly recognize root causes, think in free body diagrams, and correlate technical decision-making to commercial strategies. -
Practical and hands-on approach to problem solving. -
Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. -
Enthusiastic about continuous learning and personal growth. -

Desired Qualifications

Prior experience in industrial product development and Systems Engineering -
Experience with Solidworks, Pro-E, or similar 3-D CAD software -
Base knowledge of conveyor controls a plus (PLC's, ladder logic, photo eyes, encoders, communication networks) -
Experience with field commissioning at customer locations
